This is my dad.
The kids call him Papa. They love him. More than me.
I’m not really kidding.
He turns 70 in three weeks.
Last summer, at 68, he did a mud run with me and Numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4.
We had trouble keeping up with him.
If there were ever a grandpa who wasn’t average, this is him right here.
Not Your Average Grandpa.
But he’s not some freak of nature. He just takes care of himself.
He cuts lawns and splits wood and rakes leaves and shovels snow.
He plays tag and hide and seek and baseball and kickball and football with the kids.
He did that when I was a kid, and he still does it now.
He also does some form of exercise every day.
And every other day, he does 55 push ups in the morning and then 55 more at night.
I’m not sure where he came up with the number 55.
But every other day he does over 100 push ups.
Not bad for a senior citizen.
Not bad for a twenty year old, actually.
And that’s how I came to develop Not Your Average Fitness Course.
It’s not primarily a weight loss course. I mean, it is designed to help you lose weight if you need to or want to.
But it’s really a course designed to help you incorporate exercise into your life.
And not an over-the-top, unmanageable amount of exercise.
Papa doesn’t work out for an insane amount of time each day, but he does do something every day, and look at him!
If that isn’t a testament to what leading an active lifestyle will do for you, I don’t know what is.
And who do you think set that example for me?
So this course encourages you to do many things, but the main thing is to be more active on a regular basis.
Once you do that, so many other things fall into place.
It will help you lose weight, and deal with the stress of parenthood and marriage and work and life in general.
And it will help you to become, and remain, an active participant in your kids’ (and grandkids’) lives.
Because sitting on the sidelines warming the bench is no fun.
I didn’t want to do it in high school, and I sure as hell don’t want to do it in my golden years.
I’m going to be in on the action. Just like Papa.

You are a lucky lady to have a father like Papa. He is a wonderful role model. How fortunate he is there for your family!

Everybody loves Papa!

Our dads would be friends. My kids’ Papa is 64, loves to play tennis, golf, boating, takes college classes, and built himself a new kitchen through his new-found love of woodworking.
When I grow up, I want to be just as active as my dad too!

Maybe our dads should have a playdate.
