Last summer I was down to my lowest weight since having kids.
I got down to single digits in the pants department.
I got rid of all my double digit pants.
And then over the winter, I put 18 pounds back on.
I couldn’t even get the single digit pants over my thighs.
I was not going to buy new double digit clothes.
About six weeks ago, I got serious.
That’s when my last e-course started.
I stopped the do-as-I-say, and I started the do-as-I-do.
I walked the walk with everyone else.
Here I am six weeks ago:
Here I was this morning.
(It was 5 a.m. so cut me some slack on the hair).
Six weeks ago…
Today…
So I’m down 12 pounds.
I can wear my single digit jeans again.
Woo hoo!
I have a ways to go still, but I’m getting there.
My next e-course, Not Your Average Fitness Course — Countdown to Summer, begins on April 28th.
Memorial Day is 43 days away.
Think about registering.
I can help you get on track.
But the course isn’t just about losing weight.
In fact, that’s just a part of it for me now.
Sure, one of the goals is for you to lose weight.
To feel more comfortable in a bathing suit.
But it’s much more than that.
It’s not just about working out.
It’s about making healthier choices for yourself.
And your family.
If you have been around here for a while, you know that I’m not a total psycho.
I like a glass of wine (or four) every once in a while.
I have not banished sugar altogether.
But since embarking on this weight loss journey about fifteen months ago, I have made gradual changes in my lifestyle.
The first change I made was committing to exercise.
Yes, I started working out solely to lose weight.
But it didn’t take long for me to see the other benefits of regular exercise.
My brain became more clear.
I had more energy.
I started sleeping better.
I felt more confident.
Taking on physical challenges helped me to see that I could handle challenges in other areas of my life.
A few months after working out had become a habit, I made the next change.
It has been over a year since I have had diet soda, or any kind of artificial sweetener at all.
That is a big one.
One of the healthiest things I have ever done for myself.
And for my family.
I went from drinking almost 2 liters of Diet Coke a day, to cringing at the thought of putting that crap into my body.
In the past 3 months, I have made one more change.
A really big one.
I stopped buying processed food.
I stopped buying cereal.
I stopped buying Goldfish.
No fruit snacks.
No crackers.
No pretzels.
No chips.
No granola bars.
Nothing packaged.
I’ve really been operating under this principle:
I have been following the if it wasn’t around 100 years ago, then I’m not buying it philosphy.
There is some more prep time involved, yes.
But there are fewer trips to the store.
And my grocery bill has actually gone down.
Yes, it is less expensive to eat well, not more expensive.
I am no longer willing to sacrifice my health, or my children’s health, for convenience.
I am feeding my family real food.
It feels good.
And you know what?
None of the kids have complained.
And they now actually eat their meals.
Because they are not filled up with snacks and garbage.
So what do we eat?
We eat fruit.
We eat veggies.
The kids love quinoa and brown rice.
They love smoothies and chocolate chip banana muffins and homemade granola and…
edamame.
They love eggs and turkey burgers and salad and baby carrots.
The other day I brought pears home from the store, and my kids actually cheered.
For fruit.
We eat mac and cheese.
But it’s homemade.
And not florescent orange.
Yes, they still get to have treats.
But they are learning that that’s just what they are.
Treats.
Dessert is not a basic need.
I feel good about the direction I am moving.
Especially after I saw this on a friend’s Facebook page recently:
That is disturbing.
So my e-course won’t force you to do anything.
But it will help you to become more aware of your habits.
And maybe even change one or two of them.
It’s not a punishment.
It’s a reward.
Not just for you… for your whole family.
If you’d need some support, encouragement, or direction,
if you think your family could benefit from a move in a healthier direction,
if you want to set a healthy example for your children,
You deserve it.
And so do your kids.

OMG so I signed up! I quit drinking diet soda April first and eat a lot of the recipes from the PaleOMG website. Toying with gluten and grain free. I need to do this for me before I know how to start it FULLY for my family. I’ve already started transitioning. I made my first infused water last night..I love it!
I’m ready!
Mom of 2 need to get in pre preg clothes!

Good for you Susie!! The hardest part is maintaining weight loss! Especially as we are getting older, so much harder to take off, but easy to put on! I admire that you gave up diet soda! It is definitely something I drink everyday! That or crystal light. Keep it up!

I totally agree with you. It’s not so much about looking great in a swim suit (although that helps too!). It’s really all about being healthy for the sake of the kids and the family.
