Last summer I bought a bathing suit online.
When I tried it on,
well,
this came to mind:
So I threw it in the closet, and forgot about it.
Until yesterday when we had a Memorial Day barbeque and pool party.
And you know what?
I took that suit out of my closet, tried it on, and…
it fit.
I wore it all day yesterday.
With nothing else.
No sarong.
No cover up.
Nothing.
Did I look perfect?
No.
Do I still have some work to do before I get to where I want to be?
Yes.
But I felt good.
A little pasty — I definitely need a tan — but good.
I felt fit..
And fierce.
And FABULOUS!
Someone told me my arms looked good.
That felt good.
Someone else told me my boobs looked good.
That was mostly the bathing suit, but that felt pretty good too.
My point?
The work was,
and is,
worth it.
Feeling confident in a bathing suit for the first time in 8 years feels awesome.
But what feels even better is knowing that I did it.
I told myself I wasn’t going to have another summer where I dreaded being in a bathing suit.
And I followed through.
But I didn’t do it all alone.
I mean, I’ve put in the work.
But I needed help to be able to do that.
I needed support.
I needed to be held accountable.
So I told my family and friends and all of you guys what I was going to do.
Putting it out there helped me on those days when I wanted to stay in my pajamas all day and not get up off my ass.
Knowing that you’d be wondering, and asking, if I had done what I said I was going to do helped me to stay on track.
You don’t have to do it by yourself.
And studies show that if you belong to an online support group, you lose more weight than people who don’t.
In the June 2013 issue of Woman’s Day (I know…Woman’s Day…it’s for old chicks, but it has some cool shit in it),
Dr. Oz has a whole artcle in there on weight loss.
“Dr. Oz’s Weight Loss Secrets.”
And in that article, he has 9 Steps to Success.
And one of those steps is:
Shout (or post) it out.
Be open about your goals and new lifestyle online.
You’re more likely to follow through if you know that you’ll have to answer to others (even if they’re virtual friends on Facebook or Twitter).
Yeah.
You know where I’m going with this.

Wow!good work! Just wearing the Adira shapewear daily gave me confidence, it tucks in my tummy specially when I wanted to wear my slinky body-fitting tops. And wearing them continuously has allowed me to reduce my waist size.
