7 Week Progress Update

July 9, 2020 by not your average mom Leave a Comment

7 weeks ago I committed to making some changes in my life.

My metabolism has seriously changed since going through menopause, and I really needed to acknowledge that and do something about it if I didn’t want to keep packing on the pounds.

The two biggest changes I’ve made have been in what I’m eating and how I am exercising.

I’ve been working really hard to curb the emotional eating I’ve been doing the past couple years — yes, years — and also to change the kinds of foods I’m eating.

I’ve been eating mostly plant based.

And I’ve been really consistent with strength training.

I’ve been lifting weights at home six days a week.

Does it suck sometimes?

Yep. Totally.

But if you read yesterday’s blog post, you know how I feel about discomfort.

It’s gonna show up either way.

So I’ve been enduring the short-term discomfort of lifting six days a week in order to get to the relief that comes as a result.

I was having some major piroformis for the last four years, and also some knee pain when I was running, and since I’ve changed my diet and added in strength training, both of those things have completely disappeared.

COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED!!!

My bras now fit me properly. (I used to be spilling out of them and they were super uncomfortable).

I can bend over more easily because my stomach is a little smaller.

I am not having the cravings for junk I was having a couple months ago.

I’m stronger and less dependent on coffee to function.

I’m sitting through discomfort with more ease.

And I’m proud of myself!

If you are trying to make changes, keep going, and if you want to start making changes, what are you waiting for?

The best time to start is yesterday.

And the second best time to start is NOW.
