Yesterday’s post was really emotional for me.
It stirred up a lot of old stuff.
I spent the day randomly bursting into tears.
And then, Number 4 saved the day.
If you follow the facebook page, you probably already saw this post from last night.
If not, here it is:
I coach swim practice from 4:30 – 6:00.
Number 3 & 4 finish their practice at 5:30, so from 5:30 – 6:00 they usually hang out in the lobby and wait for me.
Tonight I couldn’t find Number 4.
I looked all over.
I started to get annoyed.
I finally found her.
I bet that was an interesting Zumba class.
Instead of waiting in the lobby, Number 4 just dropped into a Zumba class.
Without a second thought.
Now, I tried a 10 minute Zumba sampler class once.
This pretty much sums up my experience.
But Number 4?
She had the freaking time of her life in that class.
Number 3 and I went into the gym.
We watched Number 4 shake it.
We watched her work it.
We watched her have fun with the instructor.
And Number 3 and I?
We just looked at each other and laughed,
I have not laughed so hard in a long time.
When we left, she yelled,
“MOM!!! THAT. WAS. SO AWESOOOOME!
She was so awesome.
Not a thought about what anyone else thought about her.
Not a care about whether she could master the moves.
She just danced her ass off, and had a ton of fun in the process.
I got a text from CCB last night.
I just saw [Number 4’s] picture.I literally wish I could be her.
Today is picture day for Number 3 and Number 4.
Number 3 came downstairs stressing about what to wear.
Number 4 bounded downstairs excited, already at 5,000 decibels.
“Today is the best day! I LOVE picture day!”
I thought about CCB’s text last night.
How awesome must it be to be so excited from something as simple as picture day?
Yeah. I wish I could be Number 4 too.
Then I thought about it.
You know what? I can.
I think I’m going to.
I’m going to have a Number Four Friday.
I’m going to have fun.
I’m going to appreciate the things that most of us take for granted.
Because after watching Number 4 last night,
her way looks way more fun than mine.
