Yesterday there was a 5 mile race in town.
I was a little bit torn as to whether or not I would run in it because Number 3 and 4 had a swim meet yesterday morning too.
And I don’t like to miss seeing them swim.
In fact, I never have.
But I really wanted to run the race.
So, I did both.
I brought the kids to the meet at 7 am.
My husband got there with the rest of the kids at 8:30, and as soon as he pulled into the parking lot, I ran to the car and rushed to the race.
Last year my time was a 49:52.
My goal for yesterday was to break 45:00.
I really didn’t think I would be able to do it.
In fact, I had told my dad the day before that I knew I could keep up that pace for three miles, but I didn’t think I’d be able to do it for 5.
Especially when I had to sprint to the registration desk and then to the starting line because I was running late.
It wasn’t the ideal way to start the race.
So when I turned the corner and saw the clock at the finish line,
and the first two numbers were a 4,
and a THREE,
well,
I was pretty fucking stoked.
My time was a 43:29.
I beat my time from last year by 6 and a half minutes.
And I crushed that 45 minute goal.
Since I got there late, I had to park way at the back of the parking lot.
I was hoping to get back to the meet in time to see Number 3 and 4’s last two events.
So I crossed the finish line, and kept right on going through the parking lot to my car.
I drove right out of there and rushed back to the meet.
I posted this on facebook when I got there:
5 miles.
43:25. (I made a typo — off by 4 seconds)
Best time by a mile.
Literally.
Gonna be another good f*cking day.
I had missed Number 3 kick some serious ass in one of his events.
And I missed both of them swim another.
I was a little bummed.
Until I read this comment a little while later:
Dude, you came in 3rd place in your age group and you weren’t there to get the medal!!!! Congrats!!!!!
WHAT???
HOLY SHIT!!!
I ran a race on Mother’s Day.
I wrote about it in this post.
In that post,
I said this:
They give out awards for the top 3 finishers in each age group at these races.
I NEVER thought I’d be able to get one of those.
Until yesterday.
Next year when they call out those names,
Susie Johnson is for damn sure going to be one of them.
Next year,
I had said.
Ha.
Fuck.
That.
I did it in the next race.
YES.
This past weekend, I had to poke a new hole in my belt,
I wore a bikini all day and felt confident,
and kind of hot,
and I won a fucking medal.
You know what these two would say about that:
Yep.
That is fucking awesome.
And you know what I have to say about that?
Don’t underestimate yourself.
You can do anything.
ANYTHING!
You will have to work your ass off,
but if you do,
you may just surprise yourself.
You think you can’t do a 5K?
You can!
You think you can’t switch careers?
YOU CAN!
You can do whatever you want.
The only person holding you back is,
well,
you.

Way to go Jamie!! There is nothing better than a good shopping day!!! Other than a good bikini day!!!
Next summer you’ll have to do the fit & fabulous thing again, I’ll be ready at that point to join. I’ll be spending the next 7 months slowly gaining weight for a Dec 27th due date. Here’s to a Christmas baby!
🙂

You are already inspiring me to do more than lose weight, Susie, I just started a new Facebook page for my Skinny Mama Meals!
I’ve been posting them on my blog since 2011, but I never organized the photos and recipes- YOU inspired me to do that.
You enthusiasm is infectious.Go you!
