Very often we don’t make changes because we tell ourselves we can’t do something.
I can’t exercise because I don’t have time.
I can’t quit my job because I need the health insurance.
I can’t lose weight because my husband insists on keeping junk food in the house.
I can’t go to bed earlier because I need time to unwind at night.
In reality, these statements are all choices. And it’s not a matter of can’t.
It’s a matter of won’t.
When you own your choices and exchange the word can’t for won’t, you take yourself out of victim mode.
I won’t exercise because I’m choosing to binge watch Outlander instead.
This is good because it gives YOU control over your circumstances – not your husband or your boss or your kids or anyone or anything else.
By changing this one word you have unstuck and empowered yourself.
You’ve taken the first (and most important) step. Now you’re a position to be able to make changes.
So what will it be today? Can’t or won’t?
Once you own it, you can change it.
