Dear Lose to Win Teammates, YMCA Staff, Family, Friends, and Blog Readers,

I can’t tell you how many times over the past few years I have said

Enough is enough.

Tomorrow I am changing this body.

Then tomorrow would come.

And I’d find myself shoving 10 Oreos into my mouth.

I was in a neverending cycle of this:

yesterday you said tomorrow

Most of you know that for the past 12 weeks I have been participating in the Lose to Win program at the Y.

Yesterday was the last day of the program.

And I did it.

I fucking did it.

I followed through.

To the very end.

Nothing got in my way.

Especially that voice in my own head.

Not only did I meet every single one of my goals…

I  surpassed them.

determined woman

But I couldn’t have done it without your help and support.

Whether it was watching the kids, being a supportive teammate, guarding the pool while I swam laps,  checking me in at the front desk, offering words of support and encouraging me to keep going at those times I wanted to quit, teaching a spin, or Body Pump, or Boot Camp or nutrition class…

So many people helped to carry me along.

When I started out on my Lose to Win journey, I wanted to change my outsides.

I definitely did that.

I lost 24 pounds.

And my BMI is not BS anymore.

But you know what?

While my waist size, and the number on the scale drastically changed, something even better happened.

My insides changed.

I learned that I am much stronger than I thought.

I learned that the only one stopping me from doing anything is…

Me.

I can do anything.

ANYTHING.

Maybe it won’t happen exactly the way I first envisioned it.

Maybe I will have to ask for some help.

Maybe I will have to readjust.

Improvise.

Adapt.

And overcome.

But I can do it.

When life throws me a curveball.

Or ten…

Eh.

Whatever.

No big deal.

I can take it.

And overcome it.

So thank you Everyone.

Thank you for helping me to realize my potential.

My life has taken on a new direction, and you have all had a hand in that.

I still have work to do.

I’m not done yet.

But I’m well on my way.

Thank you so much for this today. I skipped on my morning workout to come to work early, but because of this blog today I’m going to do my workout when I get home, instead of waiting until tomorrow. Thank YOU!!!!!

Congratulations! You have so much to be proud of in your accomplishments in and outside of LTW. You kicked ass and took no prisoners and left it all on the field. I’m impressed.
