You can feel sore tomorrow, or you can feel sorry tomorrow.

February 18, 2013 by not your average mom 6 Comments

So here is what happened last week…

On Saturday we took Numbers 3 through 7 to go swimming at the Y.

For the first time.

Ever.

There is a therapy pool there that is heated to about 90 degrees.

It’s especially perfect for Numbers 5, 6, and 7.

Now it’s a definitely a production getting them all out the door and packing up all crap required to go in the pool.

But I’ve been hiding behind that excuse for a loooong time.

The real reason I haven’t taken them all at once is because I’ve been embarrassed about how I look, and I haven’t wanted to be seen in a bathing suit.

And I really haven’t wanted to be seen with my husband in a bathing suit.

I’ve imagined what all the ladies would be saying silently to themselves.

Whoa. What is he doing with that fat chick?

Poor guy.

He’s way too hot for her…

So I send him alone with Numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 while I stay home with 5, 6, and 7.

I mean, they’re little.

They don’t know the difference, right?

Well, now they do.

And they had a really good time.

To add insult to injury, they were especially well behaved.

Here comes that mom guilt again...

They deserve that experience.

My kids have been missing out on a really fun activity, and I have been missing out on some serious quality time with my kids.

All because I haven’t wanted to be seen in a bathing suit.

Sad.

Well, I need to thank Lose to Win for changing that.

I’m not where I ultimately want to be yet, but I sure as hell look a lot different than I did 5 weeks ago.

And I feel pretty fucking awesome.

But  not just physically…

I feel like a better wife and a better mom, and that feels just as good as looking at a skinnier me in the mirror.

So maybe I complained about Lapgate a couple days ago.

Maybe I’m not winning right now where I want to be.

But I’m clearly winning in the areas that really matter.

It feels good.  Really good.

If you are feeling discouraged, don’t give up.

And if you haven’t started yet, today could be your day.

Great work. I really relate to this post, thank you. I skipped my elliptical tonight after 4days in a row but I’ll be back tomorrow thanks to you! The 27 chocolates I ate tonight due to stressing over my sick hubby and endless housework and childcare tasks can’t be undone but tomorrow’s a new day. Thanks again for the inspiration.
