A couple days ago I wrote this post about Number 6 and his very first wrestling meet this past Thursday:
It was a tough (but good) day for him.
He only had one match, and he did a great job.
Although he lost and was extremely emotional both during and after the match, he handled the whole thing really well and finished that day stronger, tougher, and more experienced, both physically and emotionally.
Today he had his first tournament.
It was a beginner tournament so he was wrestling with other new kids, but this time he had three, 3-minute matches.
I wasn’t sure how he’d handle three times as much wrestling as his first meet.
If he was crying and losing his composure halfway through his first match, how exactly would he be on the third one?
I was afraid he’d completely melt down.
I was coaching a swim meet this morning, so I couldn’t go watch him.
But I was checking my phone for updates from my husband who was with him.
Around 9:50 I got the first text.
PIN!!! 37 seconds.
YES!
An hour later I got the next text.
22 second pin. He’s doing amazing.
YES!
I was super happy.
Also a little annoyed that I was missing it, but mostly just super happy.
At 11:46 I got a third text.
He won his third match. He was crying after the second period but he dug
deep and got the pin in the second. He won the tournament.
YESSSSSS! MY DUDE!!!!!
I’m so happy for my guy.
After years and years of watching his siblings swim and do something they love and have lots of success, he had his moment.
And it was totally worth the wait.
