I have been working on something for the last couple days, and I’m excited to share it with you tonight!
There are two things I’m pretty passionate about when it comes to moms.
The first thing is helping women take better care of themselves beginning with making exercise a part of their daily routines.
The second is teaching moms how to make changes in what they are doing at home (without bribes, rewards, and losing their shit) in order to guide their kids to be helpful, contributing members of the family.
I was getting ready to launch this course and then life took an unexpected turn.
And when life took the unexpected turn, I made a few changes.
And rather than launching 30 Days To More Helpful Kids, tonight I am opening the doors to The Village.
What is The Village?
The Village is a membership experience where I teach and coach you how to fill the gap from
My kids don’t do a damn thing at home until I completely go balistic and totally lose my shit and I can’t f*cking take it anymore
to
My kids are proactive and responsible and holy shit, things have changed at my house!
Right now the one thing many of us could use is time.
And that’s why I decided to launch the Village right now rather than a full blown digital course.
Most of us don’t have time (or desire or energy) to digest lots of content right now.
But many of us do have time for focused, intentional tools and strategies that are effective — some of them immediately!
I want to relieve you of the pressure to learn all the things and instead teach you just the things that work.
One of the reasons these past fifty days have been so nice for me is because my kids are really awesome about contributing at home.
They have been cooking and cleaning and even decluttering and organizing.
And you know what?
My house has never been neater than it is right now.
Seriously!
That’s why I am so excited to be opening the doors to The Village today.
If you haven’t found a way to really get your kids on board at home and could use…
… accountability and support to implement manageable changes,
… mindset shifts, answers to questions specific to your family that Google doesn’t have, and some situation-specific coaching,
… access to an amazingly supportive, relatable and real community of other moms who get it,
… proven strategies that will help you make progress,
… and the opportunity to work with me on a more intimate level for as long as you need…
WELL…
I’ve found a way to fill the gap.
I’ve taken years of experience and the real life lessons I’ve learned as a mom, a teacher and a swim coach and broken them down into actionable strategies.
And now I can deliver those to you with ongoing support, coaching, proven methods, and so much more.
When you become a founding member of The Village today, here’s what you get every month:
- LIVE TRAINING: A 60-minute hyper-focused action oriented group training session with me (via Facebook Live) where I’ll show you what works (with a focus on how you can implement these strategies in your own home).
- THE ANSWERS TO YOUR BIGGEST QUESTIONS: A live Q&A session with yours truly — this is your chance to get your questions answered and ultimately, never get stuck again. These Q&A’s will empower you to remove “can’t” or “I don’t know what to do” from your vocabulary.
- CONNECTION: You’ll build a strong network of moms making changes and cheering you on while you do the same.
- THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP SHAPE THE DIRECTION OF THE MEMBERSHIP: As a founding member, you’ll help determine the needs of the group and the direction we take each month.
- LOCK IN AT THE LOWEST PRICE EVER OFFERED FOR LIFE: As a founding member, you’ll be grandfathered in at the lowest price that will ever be offered for as long as you remain a member. When the doors open again in a couple months, the price to join will increase.
Are you yelling Let’s do this, Susie at your phone?
Join the Village today and get everything above and more.
The investment to join is equivalent to a just few cups of coffee.
I’m SUPER confident that if you show up and implement what you learn each month you’ll get a massive return on your investment.
For real.
If you’re ready to get the support, community, and coaching you know you would benefit from to make sustainable changes at home that will improve the quality of life for your whole family, get in there! >>>
The doors are only open for a few days.
I hope you’ll jump on this opportunity while it’s available!
It’s going to be awesome.
~ Susie

Would you consider a post about how we plan to live our lives after we can go back to work, school, after school activities, etc? Do you plan to go to the way things were exactly the way before? Do you plan to cut back on activities a little? I wonder if the house is easier to maintain because you have more time at home now? Maybe it just wasn’t possible before? I have 5 kids, two are moved out now thigh but I feel your pain!

I get it – you need to make money. We all need to make money. But charging $$ to offer information to form a successful village Takes on the total opposite of the meaning and intention behind “it takes a village”.
You have more of a village than most people!! You have wonderful and involved parents and friends who are more than happy to help you in so many ways and at so many ways. That is such a gift! But even with that, you repeatedly run down the list of of everything you need to do and everywhere you need to be (with the help of your wonderful parents).
I can’t help thinking of the kindness it would be for your to spend more time offering the coping solutions you have found along the way without a $ __ a month (along with grandfathered in clauses) to pass along helpful ideas.
I enjoy many of your columns but feel the tinge of Poor Me being present in most posts. I thought you proposed to become more evolved and less knee jerk defensive to other people’s thoughts
but you still lash out at anyone who disagrees with you or have suggestions for you. You are not the only working/non working Who deals with these issues on a daily basis (and without the generous help you receive).
I fully expect to read a “get a load of this email I received” post on your page one day and your ardent followers will tsk tsk at it, however I think there is a whole readership out there who concur and would simply enjoy hearing your well learned and well earned advice without a monthly price tag attached to each topic.
I hope I said this kindly enough.

Hey Gerri —
There is a lot to respond to here! But the biggest thing that sticks out is “I can’t help thinking of the kindness it would be for you to spend more time offering the coping solutions you have found along the way without a $_ a month to pass along helpful ideas.”
Yikes! How much of my time do you think I should give away for free?
I have written literally thousands of blog posts. All free. All with information about my experiences with my kids, my family, my health, my successes and my failures. I’ve shared what works and what doesn’t work. I’ve shared how I’ve changed along the way. I’ve run free workshops, webinars, and challenge groups. I’ve responded to thousands of emails and personal messages over the past 8 years. I do a Facebook live weekly sharing the things that I’ve learned. I spend hours every week creating free information and resources for readers. (I am working on organizing that better and presenting it more clearly on the site so people can find and access it more quickly and easily.)
The Village isn’t meant to pump out more content to people. People don’t necessarily need more content (but if they do, I provide it almost daily).
Many people do need help implementing these changes into their lives. Does everyone? Nope. And The Village isn’t for them. It’s not for everybody — nothing is!
You could argue this about any membership — why pay for Netflix or buy books when you can get movies and books for free at the library?
You could say this about anyone who offers a service. Why pay a professional organizer or a tutor or a cleaning lady or a personal trainer when could do all that yourself for free?
Why pay your kids’ teachers or coaches? I mean, wouldn’t it just be nice if they gave their time and expertise away for free?
In response to “I thought you proposed to become more evolved and less knee jerk defensive to other people’s thoughts but you still lash out at anyone who disagrees with you or have suggestions for you,” I work on this all the time. I’ve come a long way and still have a ways to go. But I’d sincerely like you to point me in the direction of recent posts where I am still doing that so I can take a look at my responses.
You are right I am lucky to have my parents. I am fortunate in ways. Perhaps my village is larger than some people’s.
The Not Your Average Mom community is a village in and of itself for people. I feel good about what I’ve created here. I love the community that’s developed since Not Your Average Mom started in 2012.
I have another successful membership called Thrive. I work with women in this group to make exercise a habit, to stop neglecting themselves, and to thrive rather than merely survive. The NYAM Thrive community is amazing. It’s supportive and safe and encouraging.
And yes, women pay to be a part of it.
My goal is to create the same kind of space for women who have not been able to find a way to get their kids to contribute at home and whose quality of life is affected as a result with The Village.
I don’t believe a village has to be free in order to merit that title.
I want to continue to find better and more effective ways to serve people. Some of those ways are free, and some aren’t.
I will continue to deliver my well learned and well earned advice without a monthly price tag attached to it, just as I have for the last 8+ years!
If there are certain subjects/topics you are interested in hearing about more, please let me know what they are. I will direct you to any posts I’ve written and Facebook Lives I’ve done that have already addressed those, and I’ll add them to the list of future posts to write!
Thanks for your feedback! 🙂
