We have a ton of Christmas books.
They just aren’t ever organized and all in one spot.
And every year, Christmas comes and goes, and I’ve missed the opportunity to read Christmas stories to the kids.
So yesterday I went on a hunt.
I found all the Christmas books.
I picked out my favorite twenty-five.
And I wrapped them all.
I put them in a basket.
And starting on December 1st, every day the kids will take turns picking a book out of the basket, and then we will read it as a family.
Easy, fun, and even though we already own all the books, each day’s story will be a surprise!
Merry Christmas!
***UPDATE*** This was probably the BEST thing we did as a family last year in December. The kids LOVED it! It was our favorite time of day, and the older kids really enjoyed being able to also have a turn reading to their siblings. Highly recommended!

Such a sweet idea.
The best gift we can give our kids is learning in a fun way.

When my son was in nursery school, his teacher put a string of paper, each looping around the next, with days of the month written on them. At the top they were attached to a sheet of paper decorated to look like a Christmas present. Above everything was a message that said “When we get to the present, it will be Christmas”
We did that at home for quite a few years but making the “present” something small that could be shared.
Each day we would take off a loop. We found that it was best to start about two weeks before Christmas.
