My Thanksgivings

November 29, 2022 by not your average mom 4 Comments

The kids were at their father’s house for Thanksgiving so we celebrated a couple days before on Tuesday night.

Marit helped out – she made mulled apple cider.

The kids got to hang out with Grammy and Papa and get some serious games of Phase 10 in.

We had a really nice meal. All the basics plus ham because none of the kids really like turkey.

It was nice to celebrate early because Kristofer’s girlfriend was able to join us.

Marit wants to know why we don’t have stuffing more often.

Before I was divorced the thought of missing a holiday with my kids was too much to bear.

It actually stopped me from pulling the trigger for many years because I didn’t think I could handle it.

I wish I didn’t have to split holidays with the kids.

BUT LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING.

It was pretty awesome to not cook or clean or do anything for anyone else besides myself on Thanksgiving.

I wore sweats and a hat all day.

I took Stormie for a nice long walk.

I ate some awesome turkey/ham/apple/cranberry/cheese quesadillas.

I watched some TV and just did whatever I felt like.

It was pretty amazing, actually.

The best of both worlds!

I got to spend time with the people I love the most AND I got to relax.

I had two Thanksgivings.

And both of them were awesome.

BRAVO! You are very fortunate indeed! As we all know, not many are as fortunate as you.
