I Finally Caved

November 28, 2021 by not your average mom 4 Comments

If you’ve been around here since the beginning then you may recall I’ve never been a fan of the Elf of the Shelf.

This was for three main reasons.

The first was that I was so overwhelmed when the kids were little I couldn’t fathom having one more thing to be responsible for.

The second was I really REALLY don’t like blackmailing the kids to behave because Santa’s little narc is gonna rat them out if they don’t.

What do you do for the other 11 months of the year to get your kids to cooperate and behave?

So we never had the Elf on the Shelf.

Until a couple weeks ago.

Because the cat’s outta the bag regarding Santa now.

This means the Elf on the Shelf is just… the Elf on the Shelf.

He contains no magical powers and I don’t need to worry about not moving him and the kids realizing it’s all just a big charade.

I thought it would be fun if I got one and put him somewhere and waited to see which of the kids notices him first.

And whoever finds him gets to decide where to put him the next night.

I think the kids will have fun with this.

If not, the Elf will just stay put for the month.

Welcome to the familiy, Elfie.

I hope you have fun with this. My elf gets into trouble and I think I have more fun than the kids getting him set up.

That’s an awesome idea- my kids are now 12, 13 & 15 and I think I will implement that this year!

They are already hiding him this year – they are really having fun with it!
