We just finished week 4 of Lose to Win.
And in that week we had a snow day, a blizzard, and the Y was closed for 48 hours.
So I had to resort to drastic measures.
Some of you thought I was crazy for pulling a Rocky IV and running laps around my yard in a blizzard.
We ended up getting about 2 feet of snow.
So I switched it up a little the next day.
I shoveled out the front walkway.
Which took about an hour.
It’s pretty long.
But I still needed to add some cardio.
So I shoveled a luge track for the kids.
That was pretty long too. Even longer than the walkway.
I started by shoveling a pretty big pile of snow at the top. A launch pad.
The kids spent the whole weekend sledding.
And snowboarding.
It took me about 2 1/2 hours to make that.
Totally worth it.
But just to be on the safe side, I shoveled half of the driveway after that.
4 hours of shoveling.
I’m still a little sore.
But I worked out dammit.
Every day.
Even in a blizzard.
When the Y was closed for 48 hours.
And all 7 kids were home.
Was it worth it?
YES!!!
Because I lost 3 pounds!
WOOOOOOOOOOHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
FINALLY!
A decent drop.
I actually lost 3.6 pounds.
It feels really fucking good to say that.
And here’s what I learned this week:
-
You’re not supposed to wear underpants with bike shorts. Who knew?
- My jeans are finally too big. With long underwear on underneath them. Yeeeeaaahhhh Boooooyeeeee.
- We may see Number 5 in the 2026 Winter Olympics. She’s kind of a hard core luger.
- If it weren’t for spin class, I wouldn’t have known any of the current songs nominated at the Grammy’s last night.
- I can do anything if I set my mind to it.
And here are the pictures…
I’m shrinking 🙂

oma nanny says
I’ve really enjoyed your blog. It’s creative, honest, and fun. I’m a grandma (Oma in German) doing a “temporary” nanny position ( I don’t carry over 10 pounds, the twins are 14.5 and 16, and I have a lot of opinions) with my daughter Jordan who lives in Cobble Hill Brooklyn, one of the hottest, hippest places in NY. There are more twins and writers here than anywhere else in the country. I find it fascinating comparing 40 years ago when I had my children to now.
