Chalk another one up for the benefits of family dinners.

December 19, 2012 by not your average mom 4 Comments

Just in case you  were worried that all your compliments were giving me an inflated ego, I want to assure you that my children are always available to smack my self-esteem right back down to where it usually is.

And, I don’t know about you, but I could use just a tiny little break from talking about anything depressing.

Just a few seconds of levity.

So here was the conversation last night at dinner between Number 3, 4, 5, and me.

Number 3:  Mom, are you going to look different next year?

Me:  Um, I don’t think so.

(I have no idea where that came from, but remember, Number 3 is the Duke of non sequiturs…)

Number 3:  Aaaawwww.  (A disappointed, You’re not???, kind of awwww).

Me:  Well, maybe I’ll be skinnier.

Number 3:  Awesome!

Then you won’t have those boobs anymore

Me:  Um, I don’t think the boobs are going anywhere.

Number 4:  Well, she’ll still have boobs, but they might be smaller.

Mom, if they’re smaller, then maybe they won’t be so droopy.

So that would be good.

Me:  Let me give you some advice.

Number 4:  What’s advice?

Me:  Don’t worry about that.

And don’t say boobs and droopy in the same sentence.

In fact, don’t ever use the word droopy when you are talking to Mommy.

To describe anything.

Number 5:  What about Dad’s boobs?

Number 4:  Dad doesn’t have boobs.

Number 3:  But he has nipples.

Number 5:  We have nipples too!

Number 4:  Yes, and someday, we’re also going to have boobs.

Number 5:  Hey, look how big my nipples are!

And that’s when I just walked out of the room.

They might still be in there talking about boobs.

And nipples.

But at least we’ve moved on from the boy parts. 🙂

That is 2 funny!! Kids are so honest!! I was a Kindergarten teacher before I had my girls and I heard stories that made me crack up all day long!! Sometimes I couldn’t even look my students parents in the face after hearing what goes on behind closed doors. I can’t wait till my girls start to speak. I really want to know what they are thinking!! Right now they are thinking da da la la and ma ma 🙂 Your kids sound hilarious 🙂

My kids are really hilarious when you can read about them but don’t have to live with them 😉
