We are almost into a new month!
I am giving my fitness course and tribe members a one-minute habit challenge, and I thought I’d share it with you, too.
One of the things we work on A LOT is developing very small manageable habits that are very easy to sustain.
Once those very small habits have become established, we work on stacking on top of them.
For example, if one of my tribe members wants to start exercising consistently but never being able to find her headphones is stopping her because she likes to listen to music when she works out, I’ll challenge her to start a one-minute habit of putting her headphones in the same exact place every day.
This isn’t actual exercise, but it’s helping set up an environment that is conducive to exercise.
One thing that really helps to solidify habits is to use a habit tracker.
These are especially effective because it’s really satisfying every time you fill in a square on the tracker.
I wanted to share the tracker I’m giving my tribe with you, too.
What is something you want to change in your life?
Do you want to start exercising? Do you want to start decluttering and organizing your house? Do you want to start flossing daily? Do you want to start stretching or meditating or bringing your coffee to work or reading daily or saving money?
The key to establishing a new habit is to make it very small, very easy, and something you can commit to every day for the rest of your life.
Saving twenty dollars a day for the next 31 days may not be realistic for you. But you could save a dollar a day. You wouldn’t have massive amounts of money saved one month from now, but it would be 31 more dollars saved on Halloween than you have saved today.
Walking for one minute a day may not seem like much, but it’s building a foundation that you can add onto once that one minute becomes a habit.
Nothing is too small.
For me, I’m going to work on flossing.
I don’t floss daily, and that is really not taking care of myself.
So that’s my self-issued October self care challenge.
What about you? What habit will you start to work on in October?
I’d love to know!
Let’s all build some healthy habits together!
