I found some pictures recently when I was going through some stuff in my office.
My cousin sent them to me.
They were from a trip we took to Puerto Rico about 25 years ago – the first of a couple different vacations we took to Old San Juan and Culebra.
These pics were a blast from the past.
I don’t remember a lot of stuff that’s happened in my life, but I remember this trip pretty clearly.
Culebra is incredible.
This picture (of a picture) definitely doesn’t do it justice.
I’m not sure what Culebra is like now, but when I was there it was a relatively undiscovered little paradise.
I’ll have to find the album I have of the trip we took to there for Thanksgiving sometime.
That was a pretty amazing Thanksgiving.
We also spent lots of time in Old San Juan.
Old San Juan is gorgeous.
The photo opportunities are endless.
El Morro is impressive.
I have no idea what was going on here.
My kids don’t believe that I haven’t always had big boobs, so remind me to show them that picture.
Ah to be young and braless.
You never appreciate how beautiful you are in the moment. I remember being so critical of my appearance 25 years ago. I don’t see a whole lot to be critical of as I look at these pictures today.
I’m working on that now.
But dang I was kind of a smokeshow back in the day. I didn’t realize it at the time. I was so insecure.
So I’m gonna remember this today.
Because twenty years from now when I’m 73 and looking back on my 53-year-old self in pictures, I’m probably going to be thinking the same thing.
But I’d rather be weathered and wise than fresh faced and foolish.
Anyway, the day my cousin and I went to Old San Juan we walked and walked and walked. And walked.
AND WALKED.
There were no fancy watches back then that tracked your every move so I don’t know how many miles we covered, but we walked many miles.
A LOT OF MILES.
We got lost for a while which didn’t help.
When we got back to our hotel my feet were disgusting.
But I didn’t feel like taking a shower.
So I washed them in the sink.
We stayed in this tiny little hotel. It was as basic as basic can be. It was perfect.
I’m pretty fortunate and thankful to have these memories. 💗
