I don’t know if you remember, but a while ago I told you about a woman who has been reading my blog for a couple years and who often leaves comments but I hardly ever respond to them because I suck at replying to comments, but then she wrote me an email and although I suck at replying to those, too, all the stars were in alignment and I wrote back to her and since then we have become friends.
And I discovered her on Instagram (@mammabugbitme) and I check her page obsessively because she is a super talented artist and I seriously love every single thing she does, and I didn’t really want to share her with the world because I want her to illustrate a children’s book I want to write but I think she is so good that I’m afraid by the time I get this damn book written, she will have become so famous that she won’t have time for me.
But a few months ago in one of our exchanges, I asked her if she might ever have time to paint me a picture because I love her watercolors, (and she said of course!!!), and I told her I loved flowers and she asked me what kind, and I told her tulips and bleeding hearts and lilacs and hydrangeas were my favorites and, well…
LOOK WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL FROM INDIA TODAY!!!
YES!!! INDIA!!!
These paintings traveled over 7,000 miles to get to me, and these are just two of them (she sent me four) and the picture doesn’t do them justice because I didn’t take it until night time and the lighting pretty much sucked, but OHMYGOD!!!! I love them!!!!
And I’m in the process of making a new office for myself, and I know exactly where I’m going to put them and I cannot wait to have them hanging on the wall where I can look at them every day.
And how crazy is it that this little blog I started four years ago is now read by people all over the planet and because of it I have connected with someone who lives on the other side of the world!!!
Life is weird and crazy and awesome.
Swati, when you are super successful and famous, don’t forget about me.
Thank you so much for giving me something so pretty to look at every day.
You made my day, and I will think of you every time I look at them.
I am so happy!!!
