I had an unexpected snafu tonight, and I’m really tired, and I don’t have the time, energy, or desire to write the post I was going to write tonight.
So I’ll just share this quick story.
And I PROMISE it’s the last time I will talk about my hair.
Tonight, anyway.
When I finished grad school and was first teaching, I had pretty short hair.
Maybe even a little shorter than it is now.
And I liked it, but shortly after that time Ellen Degeneres was really becoming popular, and people started telling me that I reminded them of her.
And while I thought she was funny, I didn’t think she was particularly attractive, and it bothered me.
A lot.
So I grew my hair out.
My latest Netflix series is House of Cards.
And I’ve become obsessed with Claire’s hair.
And that’s what made me pull the trigger and chop my hair off.
And I clearly love my new hair, but I’ve been keeping my fingers crossed that I wouldn’t get any Ellen comments.
This morning I brought Number 7 into preschool.
Her main teacher is a reader of the blog, so I knew she had already seen my hair.
But one of the other teachers has no idea about the blog.
And when I walked into the classroom, she looked at me and said,
“I love your hair!”
And then she pointed at me and said…
“Robin Wright. House of Cards.”
Phew.
Still riding the haircut high.

I need to watch that show! Everyone’s talking about it and I’m so out of the loop. I had to Google Robin Wright…

It took me until the 1st episode of the second season to really be hooked.

Love your new haircut! I have been working up the nerve to chop off my hair (halfway down my back) to donate it, and your new ‘do is seriously inspiring me to try a sassy short style.

Go for it!

I made the appointment today! Somewhere between 10-12 inches of my hair is getting donated to become part of a wig for a woman fighting cancer after I get it chopped off this weekend!
