A little over a year and a half ago I had a seriously regrettable yelling episode in the car when Number 3 and 4 pushed my buttons one too many times.
And that was the day I decided I was done yelling at my kids.
Because yelling wasn’t effective, it wasn’t changing their behavior, it wasn’t setting a good example for them, and it made me feel really shitty about myself.
So over the course of six months, I worked really, REALLY hard to stop yelling.
It wasn’t easy. And sometimes it still isn’t.
But yelling is no longer an automatic response for me.
As I was going through this journey of not yelling, I wrote about it on the blog. And the topic was so popular that I decided to do something…
I wrote a book!
It’s full of real life strategies that work.
I know, because I have used them. I still use them.
Don’t get me wrong, my kids aren’t perfect and they still test me and my house is still loud and crazy sometimes. But it’s not because I’m yelling at my kids like a crazed lunatic. It’s not because my kids are completely out of control and have the run of the house.
It’s because kids will be kids.
But now I have a way of handling their behavior that is much more calm and much more effective than the vein-popping yelling I was doing before.
If you feel like you are in crazed lunatic mode and about to pop a vein way too often, this book will help you, too.
