We get by with a lot of help from our friends.

Despite all the shit that has happened in the last week, some really great things have happened.

So many people have helped and have offered to help.

And I want you to know that if you have messaged or emailed me, I have read your messages, and once I get home, I will do my best to get back to you. If you don’t hear from me right away, please don’t take it personally. I’m just a little overwhelmed with the outpouring of support.

And I just wanted to share two instances of that support that happened in the past 36 hours.

Yesterday I was feeling a little stressed about letting the kids enjoy their last day and getting everything packed up and also picking up my husband from the hospital. Then there was all the logistical stuff — making arrangements for him to get home, etc.

I had no idea how I was going to get all that stuff done in one day with all the kids there.

Because I also wanted my parents to be able to have some kid-free time on their last day of vacation.

Then I got a text from Number 3 and 4’s first swim coach ever. She lives down in this area now, and she offered to help out if I wanted.

Which I did.

So she came for about 5 hours and hung out with the kids in the pool and at the beach.

And she brought her GoPro.

That was a big hit!

So that let me go pick up my husband at the hospital without having to worry about the kids or bother my parents.

And then there was the other instance…

My brother-in-law called. And he offered to fly up to Wilmington from Georgia and then fly to Connecticut with my husband.

What a relief. And what a game changer that was yesterday. It took such a load off.

And he took such good care of my husband.

He made the reservations, bought the [lane tickets, took care of a rental car, and my husband is now at home, safe, and resting in his own bed.

As for me, my parents and I started the trip back to CT today. They have Number 2 and 3 in their car, and I have 4, 5, 6, and 7 with me.

I was going to try and do the whole trip in one shot, but there’s only so much I can do. I’m just too exhausted. And so are they.

So they got a couple of hotel rooms, and we are somewhere in Virginia now.

We are all happy, we are all comfortable, and we are all extremely appreciative and grateful for everyone’s support and help.

Thank you all so much.

Now I’m gonna go join Number 6 in that bed back there.

Thank you for making me Number 1!

Hang in there Susie. Life has a bit of a sick sense of humor. The only way to deal with it is to throw it right back at the Universe. You’re rockin’ it girl! You’re an amazing Woman, Mom, Wife, Human Being. You’re raising some amazing kids too! Wishing you and your family the best!

Susie- I have been thinking about you and keeping you, your husband and kiddos in my thoughts and prayers. The road looks long right now but take it one day at a time. Take care of yourself too – those strong shoulders will need a break now and again.
