I have coached swimming or taught swim lessons since I was 16 years old with lots of success (anyone I taught this summer, please vouch for me)!
Here is a tip for those of you who have children who are non-swimmers or who are reluctant to put their faces in the water:
Don’t tell your kids to “blow bubbles”. Instead, teach them to hum when they put their face in the water.
It is impossible to get water up your nose when you are humming. Try it yourself!
You don’t need a pool to practice this — your kids can practice humming in the bathtub. I promise you, it will make a world of difference 🙂

I effing love your blog!!! And I love all of your tips and tricks. You’re not annoying with it like those blogs who are all crafty and shit to the point they make you feel like a dumbass! You know the ones “I’m super mom and so damn crafty. It only took me an hour to do this craft that it’s going to take you 17 days to finish.”. Thank you for that!!!! And here’s to you for having 7 freaking kids. Shit, I need a valium at the end of every day with just my one 4 1/2 old boy (who is like having 3 most days!). Btw, you do look great-and not “great for having 7 kids 🙂
