Number 5 has a thing for mail and mailboxes, so today we made one that she can play with. It took a little bit of time, but the investment paid off. She was occupied for at least an hour with it.
Here’s what we did:
I took an old shoebox and taped the lid down.
Then Number 5 decorated some construction paper.
We used that construction paper to cover the shoebox. I used part of another box to make a flag, and we covered that with red paper. I cut out a rectangle from that second box and I taped one side and the bottom of it. That way the flag slips inside it, but it can be flipped up and down.
I covered the box and flag with clear packing tape. I gave Number 5 a bunch of junk mail and a mail bag.
She had a great time playing mail carrier, and I had a great time being left alone 🙂
I’d love to hear any crafty things you do at home that are cheap and easy!
