We still don’t have phone/cable/internet, so this is coming from my phone.
Again.
I had planned on doing this whole Halloween retrospective, but, well, that bitch Sandy put a little kink in my plans.
Anyway, I’m in a little bit of trouble.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, but it snuck up on me a little too quickly this year.
Last year I was also running behind. Number 3 wanted to be the red power ranger, Number 4 wanted to be Ariel , and Number 5 wanted to be Belle.
Number 7 was only a couple weeks old, so there was no way I was making any costumes, and there was also no way I was dragging 7 kids into any stored filled with Halloween crap and mountains of candy.
So I ordered them online. And since I didn’t know if they would get here in time, I ordered them from 2 different places. And I paid for expedited shipping.
In total, I paid about $4,000 for Halloween costumes last year.
And then we had a blizzard, and Halloween was cancelled.
I was not happy.
Last week, I had no costumes, and the weather people started forecasting Frankenstorm.
This weekend it became apparent that we were going to get hit. On Sunday, they had already cancelled school on Monday and Tuesday .
I was certain Halloween would be cancelled.
And when faced with the decision to a) feed my family for the month or b) deplete my life savings in order to guarantee the arrival of a Wolverine costume, well, I went with option a.
According to CL&P, at 5:00 yesterday, 75% of the town was still without power.
Phew.
I was in the clear.
And then at 6:30, I found out the news.
Halloween is not cancelled.
And it’s today.
And I need 5 costumes.
And that’s why I’m in trouble.
