When Number 3 was seven and Number 4 was five and just a few months away from her sixth birthday, they both joined the swim team.
It was a little rinky-dink town summer team.
As a former high school and Division I college swimmer, this was something I had hoped they’d want to do one day, but you never know what sports your kids are gonna fall in love with (if any).
They loved that first experience, and they were immediately hooked on swimming.
Today, six-and-a-half years later, Number 4 swam in her third and Number 3 swam in his fourth (and final) CT middle school state championship swim meet.
It’s the same pool I swam in at State Open Championships my sophomore, junior and senior year of high school.
It’s always a trip down memory lane to walk into that pool.
Today added another trip to memory lane.
I wasn’t the only mom whose son set a new CT middle school state record today.
But I’m pretty sure I was the only mom who had a son and daughter who both won both of their events.
Four individual events.
Four firsts.
A state record.
Am I not-so-humblebragging?
I don’t know. Maybe.
Whatever.
I don’t care.
Number 3 and 4 kicked butt today and it was so much fun to watch them doing what they love and having fun.
And I’m super proud of my kids.
And that’s all for today.
