You all have different goals…
Maybe you want to run a 5K.
Maybe you want to do a triathlon.
Or fit into that pair of jeans that have sat, unworn, in your closet for the last 3 years.
Maybe you want to exercise on a daily basis.
You are all beginning at different levels and have different objectives.
Think carefully and specifically about what you want to accomplish.
Here is my suggestion: set three goals for yourself.
When I ran the NYC marathon, I set three goals for myself.
One that might be tough to attain, one that was a little less intense, and one I could easily achieve.
The first was pretty lofty – to break 4 hours.
The second was to run the whole thing and not have to walk.
The third was to finish.
I finished.
I ran the whole thing.
My time was 4:37.
So two out of three.
I call that a success.
So maybe I didn’t achieve all my goals, but I did something I had never done before, and I really pushed myself out of my comfort zone.
I want you to think along those lines when you think about the next 8 weeks.
And you can always readjust your goals.
You may find you need to raise the bar for yourself.
You may want to add another goal.
Some suggestions for achievable goals I would give you are:
-
Exercise five times a week.
-
Try yoga at least 5 times.
-
Try something you’ve never done before.
-
Limit television to 1 hour a day.
-
Plan out meals every week.
-
Stop eating in the car.
-
Register and complete a 5K race.
-
Lose 5 pounds.
-
Eat at least 3 servings of vegetables each day.
-
Go to sleep 15 minutes earlier or wake up 15 minutes earlier each day.
Attached at the bottom of this email is a goal sheet for you to use. One is an example and one is blank.
Print out the blank one.
Think about your goals.
Fill in the goal sheet.
Take your time. Be specific.
Keep this in mind when you are determining your goals:
YOU HAVE UNTIL SUNDAY TO COMPLETE THIS TASK!
You may need more than one goal sheet.
Make copies of it (them) when you are done.
Put them on the refrigerator.
Or your bathroom mirror.
Or your forehead.
Share your goals with the group.
Let us know what you are going to do so we can help hold you accountable!
Can’t wait to hear what you have planned for yourself!
