Even after teaching for twelve years and coaching hundreds and hundreds of swimmers, and having a whole bunch of my own children, it still surprises me how two kids in the same family from the same parents can be so different from one another.
This was illustrated to me again yesterday after I said goodnight to Number 3 and 4.
I was in the hallway and I heard this:
Number 4: Do you want to talk before we go to bed?
Number 3: Okay.
Number 4: You know what I think would be really cool?
Number 3: What?
Number 4: I think it would be really great if this summer Mom made us have quiet time where for at least an hour we could just read and we weren’t allowed to use any technology or anything.
I would LOVE that.
Number 3:
Number 4: Don’t you think that would be awesome? Because I just think reading is so special and I love it so much.
Number 3: WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU???
Not quite the bedtime conversations the Waltons had, but much more entertaining.
