Somehow the Universe has a way of taking care of you, and it knows just what you need and when you need it.
Over the course of the last two years I had completely spiraled out of control with my eating and gained about twenty pounds. None of my clothes fit me anymore, and I fell into a massive wardrobe rut until I completely let myself go. I stopped caring about my appearance. I reverted to wearing yoga pants and t-shirt and hoodies. Every. Single. Day.
About a year ago I purged my closet down to a literal handful of clothes that fell into two categories: the ones I could still manage to very uncomfortably squeeze into and the ones I hoped to be able to wear again at some point in time.
Then about two and a half months ago I decided enough was enough and I was going to take back control of my health and fitness and start taking care of my body.
You know what happens when you start taking care of the inside of your body?
The outside of your body starts to change.
And you also start caring again.
So I started wanting to wear actual clothes again.
But I didn’t really have any that fit me well, and I didn’t have any money to spend on new clothes.
That’s where the Universe intervened.
About a month into my new lifestyle of healthier eating and consistent exercise, out of nowhere I was serendipitously contacted by Betsy Boo’s Boutique .
I had worked with them a couple years ago, and I am super happy and grateful to announce that I am partnering with them again!
Besty Boo’s is helping me look cute again and I am SO EXCITED.
Every other month I get to pick some stuff out, show you what I got, and then show you how I incorporate the items I get into my (very limited) existing wardrobe.
I have to be honest.
I TOTALLY LOVE EVERYTHING I GOT THIS MONTH.
I also love having some actual clothes that fit!
And for the first time in a long time I’ve walked out of my house and into school concerts and class parties and meetings feeling as good on the outside as I now feel on the inside.
Betsy Boo’s has everything you need to put an outfit together: tops, bottoms, jeans, shoes and accessories.
Since — like most moms — my time is very limited and also since I don’t particularly love shopping, one thing I really love about Betsy Boo’s is they show you how to combine items to make complete outfits. It takes all the thinking out of it for me.
So I always check out the sets they have first to see how they combine items and to see if I have any of them in my closet already.
As soon as I saw this set, I knew I had to get it. It includes the floral top, a white tank top and the earrings, but it’s styled in the picture with the jeans, sandals, and purse to show you how you could make a really cute outfit.
I love anything floral, and I thought the floral tank was so pretty. I also already had a pair of jeans similar to those, and now that I’m down 13 pounds I can fit back into them. So I ordered the set as well as the crocheted sandals.
Here is my version of the outfit they styled in the photo:
Oh, I forgot to mention that Number 5 (who is eight years old) was my photographer for this photo shoot. So some of the photos are a little interesting.
The floral tank is extremely soft and really comfortable, and so are the sandals. I like this outfit a lot. I LOVE THE TOP.
But my jeans are actually a little on the big side now. And while I like the casual look of this outfit, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE NEXT ONE.
Since I already had jeans kind of similar to the ones styled with the set, I got myself a new pair of jeans.
I ordered the Josie Dark Wash Skinny Jeans, and I am not kidding when I say these are literally the most comfortable pair of jeans I have ever worn.
I AM IN LOVE WITH THESE JEANS.
They fit me perfectly which is something I have honestly don’t think I have ever said.
They have just the right amount of stretch to them, and they are pretty flattering on me (if I do say so myself).
So I paired the jeans with a pair of wedges I already had, the floral top, and the pink earrings that came with the set.
Here’s the back view.
I seriously love this combination. I’d wear it every day if I could.
Actually, I can. So maybe I will.
All of these items run true to size.
The floral top is a large, the jeans are a size 11, and the sandals are a size 9 — the sizes I typically wear now (I’m 5’6″, 165 lbs.)
I am super happy with everything I received from Betsy Boo’s this month.
Oh yeah. One more thing… FREE SHIPPING.
It feels good to look cute again.
It feels even better to want to look cute again.
If you are ready to look cute again or if you like what you see here, check out Betsy Boo’s Boutique, and stay tuned for more seriously cute combos from me in the upcoming months.

Omg! You are my twin. Everything you write is on point on what I’m going through. At 38 (I’m 43 in September), I got married, blended a family by becoming a step mom to a now 8 yr old and 17 yr old step sons, got a dog, bought a huge house we couldnt manage and had a baby boy in 2013 and 20months later had a daughter (plus I work full time). I downward spiraled into what felt like just surviving. I was in the best shape of my life before all of this and gained 30 lbs and feel like poop now. My youngest kids are now 3 and 4.5 so I’m finally feeling like I can be focused on my health. Ive been following your blog since you started and am so inspired by your authenticity and your confident attitude. You are amazing. Keep going. I read your post and immediately got myself on the treadmill for a 2 mile run. Thanks for sharing. You are hilarious. Xoxo
