Number 3’s potty mouth did not come from me

Last night after dinner Numbers 2, 3, and 4 were all coloring together.  It was very sweet.  And rare.

The television was on, but they weren’t really paying attention.  Number 3 looked up at one point, saw something on the television, and out of nowhere yelled,

“What the hell is that?”

That’s more like it.  Sweet, innocent scenario now over.

Time to pull out the if you do that at school card.

“Number 3, I don’t want to hear you say that.  If you say that at school, you’ll get sent to the principal.”

I thought about addressing the family favorite feef in my cock (http://nyam.wpengine.com/?p=2073), but left it alone.  I still have hope that will disappear before Monday.

“Where did you hear that, anyway?” asked Number 2.

I thought Number 4 was going to say that he learned it from Number 2.  I was ready to yell at him for setting a bad example.

“From Dad!” said Number 2.

Grrrr.

Then Number 4 chimed in.

“Yeah, you’ll get sent to the principal if you say the f-word, the s-word, the sh-word, and the w-word.”

Uh-oh.  How did she know about the f-word?

“What is the f-word?” I asked her.

She looked at me like I had 3 heads.  “Mooooommm.  You know. Ffffff-”

I had my eyes shut tight.  I braced myself…

“-fffffreakin!”

Phew. Not what I had anticipated.

“Number 4, tell Number 2 what the s-word is.”

“Stupid,” she said.

“And the sh-word,” I continued.

“Shut-up,” she answered.

Number 2 looked at me.  Those were not the answers he had expected.

“Oooohhh.  Yeah.  Those are really bad,” he confirmed for her.

But I was confused about the remaining letter word.

“What’s the w-word?” I asked her.

“Duh Mom.  Number 4 just said it.  The w-word is What the Hell!”

Oh.  Of course.

Well, I guess we still have some semblance of innocence remaining here.

Nothing that a little quality time on the school bus can’t take care of.
