Yesterday I put it a lot of stuff out there.
Stuff I was afraid to say out loud.
Because what if I fail?
What if I say I want to be a motivational speaker,
and no one asks me to,
um,
motivate them?
Even scarier,
the 5K…
What if I fail on that one?
What if I can’t get it off the ground?
I mean,
in all honesty,
I have no idea what the hell I am doing.
What are all those people who discouraged me from trying going to say if it’s a big flop?
How will I respond to the I told you so’s?
But I can see the end result.
I envision it being hugely successful.
I believe.
Plus, I’m kind of operating under this philosophy these days:
So yesterday I clicked publish.
And within minutes,
the guy I went to high school with,
who posted that video on facebook,
left a comment on my personal page.
…If you give me enough lead time, I’ll try my best to fly into CT to run in your race. Be well and keep writing, I love it.
Well, I was up to at least one participant in the race.
Then,
I got an email.
First of all, I think I can get rid of that $2,000 commitment for august, or at least lower it…I’m working on it and will let you know. Secondly, please tell me how I can help. if there is a 20 minute gap in your day and you want to get coffee and goal plan I’m happy to do that, we can map out your 5K and a general fundraising strategy to get this done for you. I have no doubt you can do it, just need to plan properly.
A believer!
YES!!!
I was starting to feel more confident.
And then last night,
I got this message on facebook:
Hi Susie,
I read your blog today….I read it everyday and love it! Anyways, I have been the race director for two 10ks at the Y and 3 5ks for Danbury City Center. I would be more than willing to volunteer for your good cause and help you organize the finer points of holding a race. Just Facebook me if you need help!
Holy shit!!!
Volunteers already!
And volunteers who know what the hell they are doing!
BIG TIME!
YES!!!!
Then I woke up this morning.
To another facebook message.
Hey if u want shirts for ur race, I can hook ya up. My husband and I bought a screen printing business in Dec of last year and do shirts for events like that all the time! Let me know if u r interested. I’d totally run in it if I lived near ya.
Oh.
My.
God.
And then,
there was one more facebook message:
I just read your post about starting the annual 5k for your brother. That was my sign, let me explain. A girl that I went to high school with (only knew of her) has an 11 month old daughter that was just diagnosed with Wilms. As a mother I can not imagine the struggles this young baby and her family are enduring. They financially, are in excellent shape. So what do you do for a family going through this? I contacted the NY headquarters two weeks ago about doing a 5k in her honor. Then I thought it was kind of strange since I didn’t really know them – well I just read your post and it is clear now. I, because of your encouraging words will contact the office again and begin setting up a race in her honor. Thank you for helping see the impossible is obtainable!
Inspiration.
Yes.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
This is going to work.
See what happens when you put yourself out there?
Some pretty awesome things.
Go ahead.
Put yourself out there.
Take a risk.
We are all capable of big things.
Don’t miss out on your chance to discover what those things are.
