The past 36 hours have been a little crazy.
Much more crazy than I wanted them to be.
I did not plan or prepare the way I needed to in order to have a relaxed Christmas Eve day, and everything was last minute and rushed.
I didn’t sit down to relax until 7 pm on Christmas Eve.
But it was at the movie theater, and I was in my pajamas.
That didn’t suck.
I didn’t take the obligatory Christmas Eve picture of the tree with all the gifts under it once everyone was in bed and everything was wrapped. I was just too tired.
Twice during the night one of the kids woke me up because she woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep.
I told everyone they had to stay upstairs in their rooms until 7 a.m. on Christmas morning.
They made it to 6:33 am which was pretty good.
We had a really nice Christmas morning.
There was the present-opening frenzy.
All the kids home, and it was really nice to have them all eating breakfast together.
Once the presents were opened and breakfast was made, I took some time for myself.
I went for a run.
I love going for a run on holidays. The roads are so quiet and peaceful. I took a little detour through my favorite place on the way home, and I took a picture to share with my membership group, although as I write this, I realize I never shared it with them.
Anyway, the exercise was good for my head. And so was getting away from everyone at home for a while.
Maybe that sounds bad on Christmas, but I needed a little break.
Then we headed down to my parents’ house.
This is probably my favorite part of Christmas because all my work is done, my parents have a woodburning stove, their house is super cozy, and I get to chill out and relax.
We had round two of present opening frenzy.
Then we had dinner, and about ten minutes after I finished eating, I fell asleep on the floor in front of the tree for about an hour.
And that was awesome.
We had a few exhaustion induced meltdowns after we got home. But eveyone has showered, now, the kids are all winding down, and soon everyone is going to bed.
Phew.
WAY TO GO, MOMS! WE MADE IT!!!
Enjoy tonight.
As far as I’m concerned, it’s one of the best nights of the year.
And that’s a wrap.
Merry Christmas to All.
And to all a good night! 💚💗
