I sleep on the couch.
Every night.
Not for like a little bit until I wake up and then go into my bed. For the whole night.
Since I’ve had kids, I’ve developed this superhuman, bionic hearing capability. No noise made by any of the children goes undetected, and every sound leads immediately to my eyes bugging out of my head and me sitting straight up in the bed. And then it takes me forever to get back to sleep. Like hours.
Number 7 still sleeps in a pack and play in our room. Every time she makes a noise I find myself wide awake, stressed out, and unable to sleep.
Consequently, I moved out to the couch.
There is also a snoring issue to contend with, but I won’t mention that because it would make my husband angry.
Anyway, the kids know where to find me at night.
The other night my husband and I went out to dinner. Our cool, college babysitter came over to watch the kids. She’s a swimmer, and Number 4 really looks up to her.
Apparently Number 4 has plans for the CCB, because this is what she told her:
“CCB, you could join ‘the family’ and be the 10th member.”
But Number 4 wasn’t done there.
“Because Daddy sleeps in a big bed….
…and you could share it with him.”
Hmmm.
That might be the last we see of CCB…
