My blog post streak was ruined again.
This time by Mother Nature.
On Tuesday what was left of Hurricane Isaias made its way to Connecticut.
I don’t watch the news, and I’ve been a little distracted by life lately, so I don’t know if I missed a bunch of warnings or if nobody really warned us New Englanders that we were gonna get kind of hammered.
But we got kind of hammered.
About 69% of my town was without power yesterday.
Just about all of town has been without internet since Tuesday night.
But my parents have internet!
And I’m writing this from their house.
The kids and I came down yesterday to see the damage at their house and just check in with them.
They didn’t lose power, but they did have some decent damage on their property.
Of course Papa got right to work cleaning that stuff up.
They had a few pretty big trees come down.
Like this one:
And this one.
Which doesn’t look all that big.
Until you see it from this angle.
And this angle.
BUT, the teepee Papa and the kids made a couple years ago (and the little guys’ favorite place to hang out in their woods) was unscathed.
Everyone is fine and healthy.
Papa did a couple handstands for good measure.
And I got some good pictures of the kids.
So just a little bump in the road.
And true to form, 2020 continues to keep us all on our toes.

So sorry your parents had this damage–glad all is safe. Your father is such a ham! Your parent’s house looks lovely. Take care and keep your chin up. (From a long-time reader and fellow teacher in MD.)
