I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy; I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it.

I’ve been thinking about my weight loss journey, and I have some different milestones which I believe are a much more accurate measure of the phases you go through when you are working to lose weight.

Screw the 160’s, 150’s, 140’s…

This is how I’m charting my progress:

Stage 1: I can’t see my toes. (And I haven’t been pregnant for over a year).

Stage 2: I only look like I’m 5 months pregnant now.

Stage 3: I think I can finally stop wearing my maternity clothes.

Stage 4: I can almost fit into my old “fat” jeans.

Stage 5: If I suck in my stomach and stand just right, I can see my big toe.

Stage 6: My underpants don’t give me a muffin top.

Stage 7: I can wear my old “skinny” jeans. For about an hour. With a really loose shirt on top.

Stage 8: I’m starting to crave vegetables.

Stage 9: I can move to the next hole on my belt.

Stage 10: I feel like I deserve to buy myself a new article of clothing.

Stage 11: I think my bra might be getting too big.

Stage 12: Someone just commented on how much weight I’ve lost.

Stage 13: I wore my old “skinny” jeans for the whole day today. And I didn’t have to secretly unbutton them.

Stage 14: My boobs actually stick out farther than my stomach.

Stage 15: If I wanted to, I could tuck in my shirt.

Stage 16: My old “skinny” jeans are now my new “fat” jeans.

Stage 17: My yoga pants are so loose they are unwearable.

Stage 18: I weigh what I did when I got pregnant with my second child.

Stage 19: I took a sip of Sprite, and it tasted disgusting.

Stage 20: I can’t wait to put on my bathing suit.

I’d say I’m at Stage 14 🙂

I’m down 12 pounds.

And I’ve lost 5 1/2 inches in my waist.

5 1/2 inches!!!

And check out my shorts…

It’s amazing how much different they look when you aren’t trying to squeeze 50 pounds of sausage into a 10 pound bag.

Yes, that is the same pair in both pictures.

I had to go back and take a good look at my boobs. They do look like they are riding a little higher, don’t they?
