The best thing about summer isn’t the carefree days. Or the absence of the morning rush to get to school. Or the staying light out until almost 9:00.
It’s going barefoot.
(insert all your barefoot and pregnant jokes here)
I hardly ever wear shoes. In fact, the last time I got a pedicure, they had to send in their second string nail technician after the first one nearly passed out from exhaustion. She actually walked over to the reception desk, got 2 bottles of foot lotion, brought it over to me, and basically demanded that I purchase it. And I’m not kidding.
So my feet are a disaster, but I don’t care.
Well, unfortunately, I’ve passed this affinity for being barefoot onto Number 6.
He has not worn sneakers since about May. So when I put them on him the other night before we went to Number 3’s baseball practice, he had a collosal meltdown. And I didn’t have time to fight him, so I caved and bagged the shoes.
I don’t know if I have the energy to fight this battle, but I definitely can’t be hauling him to basketball games in December in bare feet.
If you “like” my facebook page, then you’ve seen these, and you know he does have a thing for girls’ shoes…
(Those are Number 5’s boots. And her headband. And it had been a while since I changed his diaper, hence the string bikini look).
(Same thing here. Number 5’s sandals and headband).
Maybe I’m just approaching this in entirely the wrong way. Remember that post about my shoe shopping debacle with Number 4 (http://nyam.wpengine.com/?p=2170)?
Yeah, I might have to finally break down and buy them. I wonder if they come in a toddler size 8…
I’m Number 2 in the Humor Blogs and Number 5 overall! Please help me get to Number 1 and the top 3!!! I need your votes!

That little guy is so cute!! He could be on tv in an ad!! What a living doll!! I love that all your kids that you have talked about so far have such great personalities. All unique and definetely fun. For yoiur readers anyway!! I agree with Toni Ruscoe Move to Florida. I too go barefoot almost all year long. What I do for my two inch thick calloused feet, which are now like a babys butt, is at bedtime I put vasoline on the bottoms of my feet and then a pair of socks. It works miracles. Get a pedi first and get most of that crap off then start doing this before bed. It works!

Haha! I’m the same way (re: going barefoot), and my feet have the same problem. I once treated myself to a pedicure after the summer, and the woman picked my foot up to get started, looked at my foot, and literally GASPED and looked at me in horror. Then she sighed, squared her shoulders, and got busy.

LOL…..i LOVE how you called the diaper the string bikini look. I know what you mean. When my daughter wakes up in the morning, hers look kind of like that. I’ve never seen one that stringy before, but maybe since he’s a boy and more active? Anyway, hilarious! It is so cute how he has to have the headband too! Isn’t it funny the things kids get stubborn about? My 2 1/2 yr old only wants to wear her Yo gabba gabba shirt or a nightgown everyday….my husband and i have to tackle her and force her clothes on…once we show her in the mirror, she smiles at how cute she looks! *SMH* toddlers….

Okay, I’m a little out of it. What does SMH mean?
