I Turned And Old Medicine Cabinet Into A Super Cute And Functional Spice Rack.

I’ve been dissatisfied with this corner of my kitchen for a long time.

I love having a tv in the kitchen, but I’ve hated the fact that it takes up most of the counter.

I also really hate that spice rack lazy Susan thing.

I’ve wanted to mount the tv on the wall, but our house is really old, and I wanted to do it in a way that’s in keeping with the age of the house.

Last week I came home from a run, and found this leaning against the garage.

Since I’ve started repurposing furniture, people will sometimes randomly drop stuff off for me.

It’s a medicine cabinet.

I thought I’d fix it up and sell it.

But then I had an idea.

I asked my husband to make a simple box/frame for the television.

Then I asked him to take the mirror out of the cabinet and replace it with a piece of wood.

I painted both the box for the tv and the medicine cabinet the same color.

Then I distressed both. I sanded around the edges to make them look a little worn.

I painted the new wood panel for the medicine cabinet door with chalk paint.

And, voila.

That medicine cabinet in my driveway went from this:

to this.

But there’s more.

My spices…

Now they have a much cooler and more accessible home 🙂

See what happens when you think outside the cabinet?

And all for free!!!
