I’m not completely technologically unaware, but, at 42, I’m already starting to feel clueless…
I do know what Twitter is, but I don’t tweet, and I don’t know exactly how it works. I find myself incredibly annoyed by number signs. In ten years will Number 7 be taught to begin all her sentences with one?
Then there’s Pinterest. What the heck is that? Another way for you to let everyone know about all the shit that you like? Can’t you just post it as your FB status? “Hey everyone, I really like reading about how to make a picture frame out of old buttons. Woo hooo!”
And what about Socialcam? What the hell happened to YouTube? Why do we need both? And why does everyone on Facebook need to know exactly what you watched on Socialcam? One of my FB friends watched a video of two dudes wrestling in their underwear on Socialcam. I really wanted to watch it. But I didn’t want everyone to know that I watched it. So I didn’t. But I am still wondering what was in that video…
Don’t forget Instagram… Why can’t we just put a freaking picture on Facebook? Why do they have to keep adding more crap for me to waste time figuring out how to use?
I CAN’T KEEP UP!!!
All this stuff is making me cranky.
You guys can keep your pintagramacam. I’m going to stay put in 1999.
At least for a little while 😉

It’s not just you. Before I got this mom gig I worked in computers and even I don’t care about most of these stupid new tools/gadgets. The exception is Pinterest. For me it’s not so much about letting anyone know what I like but a place to organize ideas for all the projects I want to do. I used to keep a book of magazine clippings and this is much easier to manage/update. Sure, I’ll probably never get to most of them…but at least I am wasting less time cutting/clipping/organizing. And it is searchable!

I’m only joking… I really don’t know anything about Pinterest. I just know that Facebook lets everyone know everytime anyone “pins” anything on there… So I guess my issue is with FB… but I still feel like it’s one more thing for me to figure out how to use and manage, and I just don’t have the energy, and that makes me feel like my grandfather 🙂

Supposedly the stuff on socialcam isn’t all that great. They reportedly write titles that make you want to click on them, but the actual content may not be as good as the title. I say supposedly because I like you don’t want to announce to the world that I watched some dumb video I shouldn’t have. :o)
