Last weekend I saw these bifold doors and pallet on the side of the road. The doors were really nice. Solid pine.
I happened to be driving my husband’s truck, and I threw them in the back.
We also had these headboards from an old set of bunk beds that the boys had.
The wood was similar to the doors I found.
I asked my husband to make a bench using the headboard and the doors. I explained to him what I wanted it to look like, and he built it.
He cut two of the doors into sections. He used two long sections for the front and the back of the bench, and two of the short sections for the sides.
He made a box with the door sections, and attached the headboard to the back of the bench using some scrap pine he had in his shop.
We still needed a top for the box.
My husband had a bunch of floorboards that he saved from a barn he rebuilt. The one on the right is untouched. The one on the left is what that floorboard looks like after he ran it through the planer.
Here are the untouched floorboards on the far right. The middle two are two of the floorboards after they’ve been run through the planer. The boards on the left are the planed boards that have been joined together to make the top for the box.
Here’s the final product, stained.
How cute is that?!
