A couple weeks ago I was offered a job.
It was very part time.
And the pay wasn’t great.
But it was something.
A little beacon of hope amidst the worst financial situation in which we’ve ever found ourselves.
But then,
before I got the chance to start,
I was told the offer no longer existed.
I’ve never been fired from a job before.
Ever.
But I’ve really never been fired from a job before I even started it.
Apparently I have more way more clout than I thought.
Apparently everyone reads my blog…
Numbers 1, 2, and 3 are all old enough that they know exactly what they can and cannot do in this house.
Sometimes they make a bad choice and get busted.
Trying to teach them to acknowledge their behavior and accept responsibility for their actions can be challenging.
They get pretty annoyed when they receive “the talk.”
And I continue to say, “Don’t be angry with me. Be angry with yourself. If you don’t want to have these talks, well, then don’t do the stuff that leads to them.”
Hopefully they will get it.
And hopefully, when they are adults, they won’t throw a fit when someone calls them out on something.
Hopefully they will examine their behavior and make the necessary changes, and realize that, as humans, we make mistakes.
Nobody wants to hear that they’ve done something wrong.
It doesn’t feel good.
But it happens.
Sometimes the truth hurts.
Deal with it.
A social commentary from my blog isn’t going to bring down an institution.
And if it does,
well…
I will never be the person who keeps her mouth shut.
Sometimes it will get me into trouble.
I’m aware of that.
But at least I know I’m being authentic.
I understand that I am not for everyone.
So I don’t hold any grudges.
There is no law against playing favorites.
And I know I use some off-color language.
If you are going to use that as a reason for unhiring me, that’s totally cool.
But please don’t do it while Adam Levine is singing
All those fairy tales are full of shit,
One more fucking love song I’ll be sick
at 100 decibels in the room next door.
I know…
Hypocrisy isn’t illegal either.

I think the fact that you refuse to keep your mouth shut is a good quality. It shows that you don’t just sit there and take the b.s.! Also- lovin’ the e-card.

—-thats one of the problems with being a “public persona”….it can either work for you or against you.
You are an adult and I would think that you would know when “off color” language is appropriate or not appropriate. I swear like a truck driving sailor at work (why at work? I work in a prison and sometimes thats the only way I can make my point and sometimes the only “language” they understand……) At home? my kids think “oh snap!” is the BIGGEST swear ever.
Using your blog posts (and all the swearing in it) against you is, –in my opinion– stupid. If they had a problem with your language (in the blog) they should have sat you down, asked you –or informed you– that swearing isn’t cool and to make sure that you didn’t swear while working.

I can totally relate to being in a shitty place financially, we have been in that place almost two years, and it sucks!! I think it rather ridiculous that anyone could use anything written in your personal blog as a reason to unhire you.
