I live in suburban Connecticut where bear sightings are fairly common.
Friends would post their backyard bear pics and I’d be so jealous.
WHEN THE HECK AM I GOING TO SEE MY FIRST BEAR??? I’d think to myself every time.
And then, my first bear sighting finally arrived almost 2 years ago to the day.
In fact, Facebook just reminded me of it…
DANG IT I DIDN’T EVEN GET TO DOCUMENT THE MOMENT WITH A PROPER FACEBOOK POST.
That first bear sighting is pretty exhilarating.
I’ve seen two more since then – one from my deck here at my new house, and one just a couple weeks ago in the morning when I was walking the dog. That one was just walking through people’s yards across the street from me.
It’s still way cool to see a bear but the first time, well… nothing tops that.
Unless you are my friend Kristin.
My friend Kristin had her first bear sighting today.
And she let me share the picture she took FROM HER YARD!
LOOK AT THIS!!!
HOLY SMOKES NOW THAT IS A FIRST BEAR SIGHTING!!!
Kristin shared this picture on Facebook and I messaged her.
Did you actually take that picture??? I asked her.
It was on my bucket list. It was unreal. The boaters passing by had no freaking clue! she told me.
That’s Candlewood Lake behind the bear. Can you imagine looking up from your boat and seeing that up in a tree?
Incredible.
Absolutely breathtaking.
Thanks for letting me share this picture Kristin. What a moment.
Oh, and one more thing…
I know how you’re feeling Mama Bear.
You love where you live but HOLY COW IS IT EXHAUSTING when people keep encroaching on your life and your freedom and your well-being.
It’s getting harder and harder every day to find a place where you can truly feel safe.
Don’t give up hope.
And hang in there, Mama Bear. Hang in there.
If you can’t do a push-up, CLICK HERE and let’s change that. From home. In one minute a day. (Yes, for real).
