From this day forward, all shoe shopping for Number 4 will be done online.

I am not a shopper.  I hate shopping.

But there is one thing I hate more than shopping…

Sketchers Bella Ballerina Triple Twirl Shoes.

Actually, no.  I hate the assholes who make the Sketchers Bella Ballerina Triple Twirl Shoes commercials on tv the most.  Then I hate the shoes.  And after Saturday’s shopping experience, Number 4 might be the third on the list of things I hate more than shopping…

First of all, those things are hideous (if your daughter has them, I apologize, but I think they are just awful).  I mean, look at them… 

And they cost $49.  Which is an amount of money I refuse to spend on kids’ shoes.

Plus, they have this stupid little twirly circle on the sole.

So instead of Number 4 annoyingly spinning around with a little bit of difficulty on her regular shoes, these things would enable her to do some seriously aggravating twirl action.

She would love them.  That is, until she realized that that little plastic/rubber circle on the sole of your shoe feels really annoying when you have to walk and run on it all day long.  Then she would hate them.

But when Number 4 gets her mind set on something, well, forget it.  And she was on a mission to get those stupid ass shoes.

But I held strong.

So there was a lot of crying.  A LOTof crying.  A good amount of rolling on the floor of the store.  And somewhere in the the vicinity of 672 WHY, MOMMY, WWHHHYYY???‘s.

And still, I held strong.

In the end, she got a pair of cute, pink sneakers.  Well, I thought they were cute.

She was so exhausted from the fight she put up she could barely make it out of the store on her own two feet.  But on the walk back to the car she must have been doing some self-reflection.

“Mom, I was really bad at the store.”

I was impressed.  At least she was developing some self-awareness and taking responsibility for her behavior.  I looked at her and smiled.

“Thank for buying me new shoes.”

Holy shit!  She never would have done this a year ago.  Now I really smiled at her.

Things may turn out okay for Number 4.

“Even though I hate them.”

Or not.
