I teach private swim lessons here at home in my pool.
It is pretty common for siblings of the kids taking a lesson to play in the yard with one or more of my kids while I am teaching.
Yesterday the seven-year-old brother of the kid I was giving lessons to was playing with Numbers 3 through 7.
Number 5 got a jump rope for her birthday on Tuesday, and Number 4 promptly stole it.
She has been jumping rope non-stop for the past 2 days.
So yesterday some of the kids were in the sandbox and on the swings, and Number 4 was skipping around the yard with the jump rope.
The seven-year-old brother of the kid I was giving lessons to, who was not shy, was hanging out with Number 3.
And Mo was watching all of them.
Number 4 skipped over to Number 3 and the little 7-year-old, and then a few minutes later, skipped back over to Mo.
“Don’t you love people who are really polite?” Number 4 asked Mo.
“Oh yes, I love that,” Mo answered.
“That boy is really polite,” Number 4 continued.
“Really? What did he say?” Mo asked.
“He said, ‘Please stop bragging about how good you are at jumping rope.'”
And with that, Number 4 appreciatively skipped away.
Number 1! Please keep me there!
