Dear Mike D.,
Thanks for your comment on the facebook page in response to this post.
In case you forgot what you wrote, here it is:
Please… The human race has been smoking for a thousand years and I have never herd of a kid dropping dead. I personaly think she is a stupid bitch who has nothing better to do. Was he outside??? yes… ok, then fuck off you complaining hag.
I don’t know you.
And you sure as fuck don’t know me.
Because if you did, you would know that I have MANY better things to do than point out, or, in your words, complain about something OBVIOUS.
Something that is not a matter of opinion, but, A FACT.
Aside from the 8 million things I have to do every day, I also have better things to do than go visit my grandfather, lying in a nursing home bed, in a diaper, unable to move or speak.
I have better things to do than go to my uncle’s funeral.
Because up until he was still able to lift his own arms, he continued to smoke.
Even though he was dying.
From emphysema.
Smoking had that strong of a hold on him.
The fact that it was killing him didn’t stop him.
Nothing did.
Have you watched a kid die, Mike D?
Because I have.
I sat with my 3-year-old brother.
On his death bed.
Literally.
He died of cancer too.
That was after countless trips to the hospital for chemotherapy treatments.
And radiation.
And a bone marrow transplant.
His death wasn’t smoking related.
But it was cancer related.
Which is smoking related.
So if you think I ‘m going to let anyone,
ANY FUCKING ONE,
do anything that could potentially contribute to any of my children ending up in any of those situations,
whether they are still children or not,
well,
you are sadly mistaken.
Yes, I have at least 7 better things to do than complain about some dick blowing poison into the air my kids are breathing.
And if that makes me, as you said, a stupid bitch,
or a fucking hag,
then,
so be it.
People have been doing lots of shit that isn’t okay for thousands of years.
Like procreating with complete morons.
That doesn’t mean they should continue to do that either.
I don’t know if you have a high level of ignorance,
or a low level of intelligence.
But, something tells me you have both.
Why don’t you stay off my facebook page.
Instead, look up Patti.
You guys should get along just fine.

I found your blog on the web and this post touch me especially (sorry about the spelling, english is not my first language). My dad just stop smoking after 50 years. It took a cancer diagnostic, 15 days fighting for his life in the ICU and the tears from his kids.
I grow up watching him destroy himself (my grandpa died from a cigarette related desease too). So, smoking will kill you, will kill your kids and i know that my chances to develop lungs and kidney (yes, 90% of kidney cancer patients are smokers v/s only 70% lung cancer patients ), are higher than an average person.
I kick anyone smoking near my kids, my home is a smoking free environment (no, you can´t smoke at the garden or near a window) and, if a found you smoking in a kid friendly place, you will have to remove my shoe from your ass.
Luckily, the legislation in my country is very serious about where people can smoke, but people never learn.
Sorry abut my rant, but people need to learn the facts.
Congratulations from you blog, is really funny, a great way to start my day

Wow, what an asshole.
I really don’t understand why people ‘like’ your page, just so they can berate and belittle you and the things you put on there.
Rise above, and know that the rest of us support you and think you’re funny.
And right.

Obviously this person is a smoker and smokers seem to really try and push their rights to kill themselves and pollute everyone’s air. So lame.

Thank you so much for writing about this! My 4 year old son has severe asthma and nothing gets me angrier than when someone smokes around him. We’ve been at parks and people light up around us. We’ve been sitting outside at a table, and someone will start smoking. I have NO problem telling them to leave and I’m not kind about it.
While someone might think it is their right to smoke a cigarette outside, it is my son’s right to breath fresh air and be independent of his inhaler. There is nothing worse than sitting in the back seat of a car holding up an epi-pen and wondering if you should use it on your child, while your husband is racing to the ER.
Get over it smokers!

Susie,
My father died at the age of 47 years old, which isn’t much older than us! He died from smoking.
I was a sophomore at Lehigh and I was 19 years old. We begged him to stop and 6 months after he quit, he died. It almost destroyed me. Actually it did destroy me. But I put the pieces back together. Smoking kills. Second hand smoke kills. Rock on for putting that asshole in his place!

There’s more than one person out there who doesn’t KNOW how bad smoke is even if it’s from several feet away? I guess I always figured that the assholes who smoke in public just didn’t give a shit about other people. Now I’ll have to wonder if they’re a little less asshole, a little more TOTALLY FUCKING STUPID. Wow.

I will also comment that your spelling is horrid and your punctuation could also use some work. Look in the mirror next time before you call someone stupid.
Thank you,

Not sure if I have commented on a post before so I will start by saying love your blog! I wanted to go back and comment on your other smoking blog when I had time (yeah right haha jokes on me) about another big cancer causer (not sure if that is a word but it works) that I am sure you know about but maybe not in this context. So here goes hope I don’t sound stupid or preachy.
When you or the kids go to the dentist and get x-rays I am sure you where that sexy lead apron but do they make you wear a neck cover? If they do good job and if they don’t make sure you ask for one. Thyroid cancer has one of the lowest mortality rates but is one the number of cases yearly is growing and the exact cause is not known but radiation is high on the list and no one knows how much is safe. They do know it can take many years after exposure for the cancer to grow. They say it is the cancer you want to get if you are going to get cancer but they have no idea what they are talking about. Treatment wise in most cases it is better than other cancers but it is life changing because you must take meds the rest of your life and you will never feel like the same person again in fact many never really feel completely well again.
When I was diagnosed last year I thought back to all the X-ray my boys have had and have not had a neck guard on (I never thought of it and was never offered one for them) mostly at the dentist but also when my oldest broke his arm and a few times when my youngest had lung infections. I feel horrible I never allowed smoking around them but I exposed their super sensitive thyroid to radiation. I know they are young and most likely have not been exposed to enough radiation but I know from now on unless they need their neck uncovered they will be wearing a lead neck guard during X-ray from now on so they never have to choose to drink high amounts of radiation that may give them other cancers down the road, so they never have to have their neck cut open and have a piece of their body removed that they need, so they don’t have to have their lives depend on meds for the rest of their lives, so they never have to feel like it is takes everything they have just to get out of bed even though it has been a year. Sorry that was so long but if I can save one person down the road I will do everything I can because no matter what Dr.s say there is no “good” cancer.
By the way your smoking post inspired me to quit. I know its a horrible habit and I should of quit a long time ago (I never smoked anywhere close to any non-smokers or children , in the car or even a doorway in fact we have strict laws where I am you can’t smoke in a car that has anyone under 18 in it, near a doorway or vent or on any school ground) I am at 7 weeks today! Yay me! I know I should have quit a long time ago but when I was diagnosed I got mad that after years of knowing smoking causes cancer I was diagnosed with a cancer not caused by cancer and I kinda got mad and figured I couldn’t win but you helped give mea push and then I made myself accountable to my boys and then I did it. Sorry again this is so long. You rock by the way!
