Cute Dresser Transformation For Less Than $20

April 9, 2016 by not your average mom Leave a Comment

I love the look of Pottery Barn Kids’ Furniture, but my bank account doesn’t.

Plus, if there’s anything I’ve learned since being a parent, it’s that new furniture will look new for approximately 30 minutes.

Luckily I happen to be a magnet for free furniture.

So when I saw this dresser on the side of the road, I had to snag it.

I’m not crazy about that style of drawer pulls, but replacing those can be expensive, even if you buy the cheapest, crappiest ones you can find.

So I used some white paint, and some pink paint.

Rather than replace the hardware, I employed one of my favorite hacks.

I just painted it the same color as the drawers.

A little sanding of the dresser, a coat of primer, and a couple coats of white paint on the dresser and pink paint on the top and the drawers, and VOILA!

How cute is that?

I know, you may not come across free dressers like this on the side of the road, but very often you see similar ones on Facebook tag sale pages for pretty cheap.

Rather than blow a few hundred bucks on something new from Pottery Barn (or something crappy from Target that’s not even made from real wood) consider this!

In five years when it’s covered with stickers and whatever else your kids decide to put on it when you aren’t watching, you won’t be so upset.

And you can always just paint over it again!
