Our schools were closed for (at least) the next two weeks today due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our local YMCA also shut down for the next two weeks.
With a 75-year-old father who is in great shape but also has a heart condition as well as a 74-year-old mom who just finished her fifth round of chemo and has literally no immune system, I am very supportive of these decisions.
I’ve also been desperately wanting a snow day (or five) just to have a break from all the madness of sports and school and everything else, but this winter has been so mild that there has been zero snow.
So I guess I got my wish.
Just not the way I envisioned it.
I have already told my kids there will be no playdates.
There will be no trips to the local playground.
There will be sleepovers or trips to, well, anywhere.
That will be the challenge of the next two weeks.
Social distancing means…. social distancing.
From everyone.
I am really looking forward to it, honestly.
Having just gotten into a work from home groove, and having just discovered how much I love the public library for productivity, this will throw a little wrench into my routine.
But I’ll just have to get creative.
Everything is figuroutable.
Tomorrow I’m going to have a little family meeting with the kids.
We are going to talk about all the things we can possibly do.
And then I’m making a plan for us.
It’s not going to be a free-for-all.
We will need some structure.
But I can tell you this.
I am spending at least one full day in bed having a Netflix marathon.
I am going to read.
I CANNOT WAIT TO READ.
I am going to do all the grocery shopping for my parents because my dad cannot stay 6 feet away from anyone at the grocery store.
And I’m going to work on a few projects.
Tomorrow I also have an idea for all of us.
Check back in.
Because Camp Corona will begin on Monday, March 16th.
And I think it’s gonna be great.

Do any of your grocery stores offer pick up where you order online and then just pull up and they load them in your trunk? SOOO quick and easy! Walmart does it for free. Or for your parents they also offer delivery,,,no idea how that works…
