I spent last Thursday through Sunday at a swim meet at F&M College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Kristofer and Ingrid swim on two different teams in two different states, and as luck would have it, both their teams swam at the same meet this past weekend.
It was less luck and more like a miracle, actually.
I volunteered to be a chaperone for Kristofer’s team. One of the perks of chaperoning is having your hotel room paid for. The team was awesome and let me bring Kasen, Gretchen and Marit along for the ride.
This was a trials/finals meet, meaning Kristofer and Ingrid swam in the morning and then the top 24 in each event came back to swim at finals at night. There were around thirty different teams swimming in the meet.
In between trials in the morning and finals at night, teams go back to their hotels, eat lunch, and then kids rest and take naps before heading back to finals.
The team stayed at the Eden Resort and Suites in Lancaster.
It’s a pretty cool place.
They have an awesome indoor pool and hot tub.
In between trials and finals, Kasen, Gretchen and Marit were able to have some fun.
They had a blast in the pool.
And they had a blast in the hot tub.
The kids all experienced their first buffet, at this meet.
Marit was in HEAVEN.
We made coffee runs for the coaches. Mean Cup in Lancaster makes an actual mean cup of coffee.
We got some quality Phase 10 time in, sitting by the fireplace in the lobby.
We watched some fast swimming.
We drove around Lancaster and saw some beautiful farms.
And all of Marit’s dreams came true when she saw a real live horse and buggy driving down the road.
It was an exciting and fun weekend.
It was also an extrememely long and exhausting weekend.
As with most things in life, the long, tiring, and monotonous parts of the weekend have already started to fade.
But the fun and happy parts are the ones we’ll never forget.
