It was a beautiful day in CT today, and the kids and I checked out a new place to hike.
I was looking for a place where they could swim, and we found the best spot (thanks to a tip from a friend).
There are multiple entrances/parking lots, and we parked at the entrance on Echo Valley Road.
This friend also gave me the tip to use the Trailforks app. If you like to go hiking or are interested in starting, that app is super helpful.
Paugussett State Forest is super close to our house but we’ve never been there.
It was pretty warm out today, so our goal was to get to water asap.
We took a wrong turn at first, but we had a nice little walk, and thanks to that app, we got back on track quickly. (I shoulda used Trailforks from the minute we started hiking).
The beginning part of the trail is pretty easy.
There were a few obstacles along the way, but nothing major.
The kids enjoyed the little hike.
Heading down to the water there were a few steep spots that were a little tricky to navigate.
One of the kids majorly wiped out. So it’s a little more challenging as you make your way down to the water.
But we made it safely.
And once we got down there, it was pretty gorgeous.
There was a spot with a couple rope swings.
The rope swings were a big hit.
There was also a spot to jump in.
The kids loved that, too.
They had a really good time.
We had some good old fashioned, Little House On The Prairie kind of fun.
I made it into one picture.
We headed back up the hill after everyone was pretty worn out.
We had a couple meltdowns over the course of the afternoon, but it was a nice day.
We’re definitely going back.
And next time I’m wearing my suit, and I’m going on that damn rope swing, too.
