Earlier today one of my Tribe members shared this post from the Word Porn Facebook page:

It was an aha moment for me.
I mean, I remember when I was in my twenties and thinking how far away 1999 seemed.
And here we are.
Approaching 2020.
Of course that induces immediate panic at the thought of another decade gone by.
I have so much left to do.
Time is going so quickly.
I’m not where I wanted to be at this age.
I have so much I haven’t yet accomplished.
Some of the Tribe members understandably commented with something along the lines of Holy shit.
But one member said this:
Hey this makes me feel good about everything I’ve done this decade. Got engaged, got married, had two kids, accepted a new position at work, welcomed 2 sister in laws into the family, 3 new nieces and nephews. It’s been a good decade.
And that got me thinking.
This has been quite a decade for me.
I said goodbye to my grandma,
and hello to my two youngest kids.
I started a blog that has had over a million readers and has turned into a profitable business.
I ran six marathons (my first in 2013) including New York and Boston.
I raised over $25,000 for charity.
I did my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth triathlons,
and a three-generation mud run.
I was on Dateline,
the Dr. Oz show
and the Mel Robbins Show.
I directed the 4th grade play.
I drove to Florida and North Carolina solo with five kids multiple times.
I made a really, really, really great friend.
I made it through a bankruptcy and food stamps and financial hell.
I went to Costco five million times.
I saw our favorite babysitter get engaged
and then married.
And I got to see my two girls in her wedding.
I sent three kids off to preschool
and five kids off to kindergarten.
I’ve made countless Halloween costumes
wrapped hundreds of presents.
and decorated ten Christmas trees.
We’ve celebrated ninety birthdays.
and ten Thanksgivings.
Time is sure flying.
But when I look back, it’s been a pretty good decade.
It’s been full of tears, full of laughter and full of growth.
And I’m just getting started.
So I’m not freaking out about the fact that we only have three more months left in this one.
I’m gonna go out with a bang.
And then I’m gonna enter the next ten years with my eyes wide open, ready and excited for whatever the Universe decides to throw my way.

Yes! This! Look at the good and grow from there! Thank you for this perspective!
