I don’t know about you, but July 4th was supposed to be a day of complete rest and relaxation for me.
I planned on sitting by the pool and visiting with friends, but instead I sweated my ass off getting my back yard ready for the summer — already a little late — and then I was cooking food and making a fire for s’mores and making sure it didn’t go out and then cleaning up the kitchen and then cleaning up the back deck and managing the kids and answering the same questions over and over again and it was NOT relaxing at all.
I sat down for about 45 minutes.
So then today was going to be the day that I rested and took it easy and gave myself a break and it’s already 1:55 p.m. and I have yet to do that.
But I have to write a blog post, dammit, because I declared I was taking massive action 23 days ago and I was going to write a post a day for 30 days and there is no way in hell I am falling off the wagon now.
So today’s post is going to be super short.
But it’s still a blog post, so it counts.
In 71 days I am doing the Atlantic City Half Iron Man.
It’s a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike and a 13.1 mile run.
As of today, I have not swum even one length of a pool in about two months and I have been in a pool three times in the last eight months.
The last time I rode my bike was last summer.
And the longest run I’ve done in the last nine months is 6 miles.
I have never done an half IronMan before.
I have done 2 Olympic distance triathlons (about 5 years ago) — those are half of a half IronMan.
The last triathlon of any distance I did was a year ago.
I am nowhere near prepared.
BUT I AM STILL DOING IT.
I guess it’s time for me to take some massive action in that department, too.
So today, I rest.
And tomorrow, Massive Action Part Deux commences.
